Christmas is coming and for many of us , we often receive gifts from our parents and friends. WE are more than blessed. But do you know there are many folks, especially the elderlies, the physically challenged people, they do not have as many friends or family members to care for them. Thus, Christmas could be sometimes a lonely, pathetic event for them. While others are merrying, they are stuck at home facing their 4 walls…
But thanks be to God, there are many good souls around who started charity organisation to help these often-left-out folks in our society, and the Boys Brigade are one of the organisation who seeks to be a blessings to this folks by giving them a gift. What BB does is that we contact these folks and ask them for a wish item. Whatever they wish for, we try our very best to meet them within the set budget and deliver it to their household. Mind you, I have ever seen refrigerator, tv set, sofa, mattress, all necessary household applicances asked and delivered before. So I think its really a very meaningful project to be involved in this Christmas.
What can I do to help?
Well, in 85th Coy, one of the things we could do is to participate in this BB Sharity Gift Box(SGB) duties. As a company , we have been assigned duties on the 1, 2 and 4 Dec. Its a whole day 8-5pm duty where we will help out in the logistics and delivery. Most of us are assigned 2 days of duties. And I have list them in the list below by date. You are required to check the dates you are assigned to and report on the day for duty. Pls let your squad leaders know whether you could make it or not. Leadership and Combined Camp November 6, 2009

Camps….. A platform for learning and nurturing new skills. A place where togetherness is fostered and friendships are forged. Always filled with fun and laughter, a camp is never dull. After the stressful and tiring exams, everyone of us were shortly called back to school for the Leadership Development Camp One.
Finally a camp after such a long period of time, I for one have had a really fun time. I’m sure all the campers were happy that they could finally come together and also meet new friends from different schools. The camp kicked off with lessons for all categories of campers as the secondary ones learned about none other than leadership while the secondary twos and threes had to do badgework. Soon it was time to put theory into practical and we moved on to the highlight of the camp in day 2, the Pulau Ubin expedition.
It was the first time many of us had set foot into the island known as Pulau Ubin and the sights were surely different from what we see in singapore. A camp cannot be called a camp without some physical activitied and soon the sec ones were off hiking while the sec twos and threes were cycling. The journey was tough and perilous but that is the time when many of our boys shone their leadership skills. The journey was indeed tiring and we went back with mosquito bites or even cuts and bruises but i believe because of this journey, many of us have grown. We clawed and scratch for every inch and everyone made it through.

Though the scoldings and pumpings were many, this is what makes us grow. I’m sure that theres a leader in everyone of us and all we need to do is believe in both God and yourself. Remember, nothing is impossible when God’s on your side.
Happy Holidays
